Re: Sprite Layering

I've wanted to figure out sprite-layering for my in-game characters but luckily enough NESMaker's object editor pretty much did the work for me and I could use up to 8-colours for each 16x32 object. Hopefully in the future we can figure something out.

Re: Spacepunk'd [Byte-Off 2019 Demo]

I must admit I didn't reach the win screen, I died before getting there. But now I must take it for another turn so I can see it. =) Really liked your game, but bad at shooters/beat'em ups. Sadly the image from imgur doesn't load. =/ I actually ran out of time, so we didn't got any cover done. But,...

Re: XenoCreeps Demo 1.0 [Byte-Off 2019 Submission]

This is heaps fun to play! I like the jump & shoot mechanic you've added, it's fun bouncing around the screen and shooting Xenos below. It reminds me a little bit of Bubble Bobble with the floaty jumps, level layouts and authentic arcade-experience. Also that cover art is F****** awesome, I love it!...

Re: Spacepunk'd [Byte-Off 2019 Demo]

Tracing an image to a NES tile based screen with limited palettes is no simple task. But you have done an excellent job. I love your title screen and the color choices!!! ^_^ Do you use the original drawing for anything like cover art, manual etc.? Lmao, tell me about it. it took me a while to conv...

Re: Soko Banana: Byte-Off! 2019 Demo

I'm in absoloute awe with your game, Marp! This looks and controls amazing, and it's hella addicting to play. Defs a huge fan of your graphical style, especially the fluid animations of your lil Monkey. The attention to detail is very good, like the Bananas getting squished by the crates, and them m...

Re: Pandora's Blocks (2019 Byte Off Demo)

This is the greatest fourth-wall breaking experience I've ever had with a NES game. I genuinely had a great laugh watching this little story unfold, especially when Howard Philips came into the picture xD The judges are gonna be surprised with this one, I garuentee it! That was funny as hell, great ...

Re: Spacepunk'd [Byte-Off 2019 Demo]

You can cheese the whole demo by entering a screen and quickly doubling back. Try putting the triggers at the end of screens, not the beginning. A better solution would be to rig up a script that trips the trigger once the last enemy on each screen has been defeated. I bet the code you developed wi...

Re: Underground Adventure (BYTE-OFF-2019)

I'm loving Underground Adventure for it's arcade-aspect. It really does feel like an arcade game that would've come out in the early to mid 80's. Hell it would've defs been quite the coin-muncher if it existed back in the day. The tiny-sprites remind me of Micro Mages which is really cool, The graph...

Re: Spacepunk'd [Byte-Off 2019 Demo]

I dig it. Very cool graphical style going on, I like the cool blue pallettes. Something I just noticed, my game does the same thing, Start seems to register as an UP press.... Unless this is just my controller... Thank you heaps! I'm really glad you like it! :D That's really stange, I haven't notic...

Re: Title screen font

For the logo on the title screen of my game Spacepunk'd I made the letters up using essentially 'blocks' (like 7x7 tiles iirc) and clean them up afterwards. Another method I do that takes a bit longer is I shrink down the logo/font down to fit within the amount of tiles you want to use for the title...
