it's the spacing of where the text box lies.
try to keep the box in multiples of 16, and then shift the position by 8px and it should disappear.

basically the NES only handles color palettes in 16x16 chunks, so if the text boxes is off by 8px it'll leave those artifacts.

NESmaker is basically an ASM6 frontend with accompanying code.
you can freely edit any and all of it, hence this coding forum.
