Animated Tiles? How do they work?

I'm trying to make a screen wide Fire animation (Similar to TMNT 2: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/eolAdB2pNhA/hqdefault.jpg)

First tried making it Monster Sprites, but that doesn't work because there's too many sprites, so they all disappeared.

Now I'm trying to figure out Animated Tiles, but it's not making much sense to me, and I don't think there's a Youtube video demonstrating it. Has anyone figured it out? Or have another suggestion for what I'm trying to achieve? Thanks.

I think they're not implemented yet. GUI for animtiles certainly seems to be missing few pieces such as defining speed and so on.
