Simple Ideas for Outlining your World Map

Post by SeaFoodAndButter » Tue Aug 07, 2018 1:46 am

So, as I was writing my story-line and thinking through how I would draw it in the NESMaker, I decided to start with a very simple outline for my world map. Basically, I just used Paint and made a map that has proportionate 16x16 screens (256 total) that are in NESMAker. I then color coded the areas to the levels of progression I have (the black areas are unused but available for warp screens to special items, shops, hidden areas, etc.)

I did use a few arrows showing where linear parts will be, and some symbols concerning bosses. But that is about it, so far. Anyways, I just wanted to throw the idea out there for people who want to start thinking about map layouts and easy solutions to start. I'm sure some people have or will have much better ideas, but this is what I started with.

I like it so far. Looks very vast and in depth.

Ah okay. Wasn't sure what that was at first. Like a test screen or something.
