A nice and quickly thrown together concept for a point and click adventure game I plan to make to get my feet wet with NESMaker, especially once variables and event triggers become a thing. That and take the time to make better graphics. In the meantime, have a mockup.

See, now that's clever. For those saying "Can you make a point and click adventure game with this?" or "You should have a point and click module", you can see how, with a little ingenuity, you can already do things like that. :)

Exactly, replace the player/hero with a cursor graphic, monsters with event triggers or give item NPCs, and warp tiles with room to room movement and you have yourself a nice pointy clicker! Minimal effort and so many possibilities.

Thanks everyone for the warm reception. NESMaker is really going to blow the doors off of game development in general for the NES with the accessibility it's going to have and I'm very excited to see what everyone comes up with and does as the versions tick by. I'm already seeing some fun ideas and designs just on this forum alone.

Just a minor update. I've been enjoying seeing just how much I can squeeze out of the main tileset before having to resort to using the screen tiles or paths as supplements. It's been a really enjoyable exercise.

Thanks, being constrained to NES restrictions has been a fun challenge. Trying to keep the room geometry as basic as possible and then simply keep most of the details to the backdrop where the players focus should be. That way I can just map out the tileset for the background details and then just swap the floor and side wall tiles as needed in placeholder spots. Least that's the plan.
