I couldn't get your newer version to work
no idea why. This one is excellent though.
I really liked the old text adventure style dialogue "you look at bed..." that was really cool. I also really liked the monster things in the cave and the sign posts. The whole thing played really well from a players point of view, not knowing what was going to happen and wanting to find out! I think you've got the amount of text just right to keep player interested. I think less can be more in adventure games. Letting the story unfold slowly, making the player want to explore. I don't speak for everyone but I get put off games with reams and reams of text to explain the story before it starts. You've nailed it, I instantly wanted to find my cat.
The only think i didn't like was that I felt I should be holding a weapon. Felt like arms were too short to hit enemy monsters, like something needed to be projecting out when attacking.
Also, the hud had some issues but im sure you already know that, in fact you probably sorted it in newer version
