Introduction with a few base questions before I start

Hello everyone. I've watched all of the official tutorials, as well as some of the ones by people here. I want to make a side scrolling beat em up style game and hope to have something going soon. There have yet to be any tutorials done in this style, but I do have a little help on graphics and sound. I plan to just start with the base module and was wondering if anyone had any general suggestions or words of wisdom to offer.

My advice would be to watch all the tutorial videos, follow the 20min ones and making the game at the same time...
Then you can try making you own game...
For what you want to do, I’d start with the base adventure module, and tweak the movement scripts like in that topic:
