I want scrolling. And since I am aiming for a metroidvania I want to be able to move up and down screens. I really need to make the run animation better. That will be the first thing to fix. For me having the player character all done and feeling great makes me see what I want to do with the rest. Going to make the tree tops a path to save space for more details in the background. Yeah I will use this as my test area to improve on.

Edit: Drew a new run animation. The one in the video is four frames but doesn't look good. This one is two frames and looks a bit better.

Reworked some graphics. Made a couple of stone paths and was happy. But things I did on screens kept getting undone. At the end of the video there was supposed to been one more screen (that I build two times). Very frustrating.

And for some reason the paths aren't solid on the last two screen so I had to set each tile to solid manually.

I've experienced similar problems on many occasions. So I find myself restarting my computer every once in a while. :/

I should probably have restarted. But that might fix the issue with screens being undone it won't fix the fact that the paths aren't solid.

Try this 4-frame running sequence:


Frame 1-2-1-3-loop

Can I get look at your project settings/ Tileset tab? I had a problem once where my paths were pointing to the wrong folder.

I was going to use a 4-frame running animation. I just haven't had time to do it. I have little time to do this and when I do I often have a baby in one arm and the other for NESmaker. And I am also trying to do my daily Sunsoft research :) I used a 4-frame run animation for my Unity version but I had just settled for a 2-frame that looked decent for now.

There is more game in the NESmaker version than it ever was.

I don't know what happened. I had the emulator selected to be recorded as usual in OBS. But for some reason this was the result ^^

I started with the HUD and realized I had not watched that part of the tutorial. And where do I find how to make the start screen work? I set the script start game or what ever it's called to go on pressing start and set it to the startscreen in the input settings. But all that happens is that the start screen shows and some sort of noise is going on. No music or sound is set or present.

That looks Great! I love the BG, very good use of color, very similar aesthetic to what I am going for, only yours looks more polished haha!

I love the waterfall! What did you use to make this? did you use a monster object, or did you get animated tiles to work?

I wouldn't even know where to start with animated tiles haha. I used monster objects. That's why there is only a tiny waterfall. I don't know how to get more than four monsters on screen at the same time :p

I converted an old enemy to NES graphics this morning. The Robotic Cod. The colors aren't set yet.
