The title is my pitch for an NES game in five words. The Japanese in the title is for a Famicom Disk System game which in North America is called The 3-D Battles of Worldrunner, or 3-D Worldrunner for short. A turn based RPG taking place in 1725 Europe, it stars a Spanish bard on a quest to find real lost treasures as ransom for his twin sister who was kidnapped by pirates. In those days it was spelled pyrate, which is why the title is Rico: The Singing Pyrate ArrrPG. The singing part is due to me wanting to use sung voice clips for sea shanties which are used to enter the various dungeons found throughout the game world. Attached is the design document for the game, so if it inspires someone to start making a new NES game let me know so we can work on it together.

NESMaker can't make FDS games, sadly enough, only UNROM-512 carts. Were you planning to hard-code it?
Doesn't matter if NES Maker doesn't do FDS games. The point was to give an idea of what the game will be like. Besides which we already have a cartidge version of the game as mentioned titled 3-D Wordrunner. Also from what I've heard if you know what you're doing NES Maker can act like you're working with an MMC1 or MMC3, which might be needed due to what is planned.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but NESmaker generates UNROM512 (Mapper 30) ROMs. The whole engine is built around and for that mapper.

Yes, technically, someone who is very skilled in NES dev could modify and adapt everything to work with another mapper… but honestly, who would go through all that trouble? If someone has the skills to do that, they probably don’t need to use NESmaker anymore.

Either you’re an experienced NES dev targeting MMC1/MMC3, in which case NESmaker will likely feel limiting in many ways or you’re a beginner/hobbyist, and NESmaker is a great fit, but you can forget about other mappers.

And even Mapper 30 isn’t fully used to its potential out of the box with NESmaker. Things like flash saving or animated tiles aren’t implemented by default, we have to add those ourselves, usually with help from the forum.

So... my advice is to try making smaller scope games, first... maybe in the same universe, maybe using some of your ideas... and when you will become a advenced NES dev, you cant go the different route.
