Hey there!
Sometimes when going to a next project, NESMaker just changed so much that it is a pain to fix everything to accommodate with the new things you want. Then, you download NESMaker again... but the bugs fixed are present again!

Here I make a compilation of threads of fixed bugs to implement for your projects, as well as methods to save space. Feel free to add some threads that you consider would fit into this list:

🐞BUG FIXES👾

♻️FREE SOME SPACE / OPTIMIZATION🚀

This is a great post. I usually do all of these things and then rename the main folder NESmaker_4_5_9_Template. Then I make a copy of the folder for every new project I start. That way I don't have to do everything all over again every time I start a new project. Thanks for taking the time to put all these tutorials in one thread.

@smilehero65 @baardbi This is a great list of fixes! I had to implement alot of these for my Byte Off project. Has anyone tried to create a handful of basic project templates for each game style and then make them available to the community? This would go a long way with helping new comers get started and veterans.

Heeey! Actually you gave me an idea.
I might do a new and more refined Platformer module 😃

Coming in the near future!!

I have thought about it many times. It makes perfect sense. The problem (the way I see it) of releasing a complete module, like for example a modified/fixed metroVania module, means publishing a ton of default NESmaker code as part of that. That means we would break the NESmaker license. Maybe Joe is OK with us doing that here on the forum, but to be safe I just stayed away from doing this.

You bring up a valid concern. I wonder if anything like this can be incorporated into a future NESMaker release? Fixing bugs and providing easy ways for making NES games is a good thing.

Exactly. That's a problem.
ALL the modifications you add to make your own module won't be supported by the NESmaker updates, or might not be compatible with the community tutorials and scripts available on the forum.

Also, another point I see... is that you can't include ALL of the things that people don't need in their projects. Doing so just makes it heavier and more difficult to customize (because not vanilla).
